younity - Home Media Server App Reviews

Was going to use this only to link with Chromecast Audio. Not paying three bucks a month for that.

I am testing out this app as a replacement for Air Video HD. Mostly i like it better. Here are the positives and negatives ive found so far: + Handles all media/files/documents, not just video + Pretty flawless automatic network configuration for remote connection, although it requires account registration + good file sorting/filtering options - lacking some media playback features such as a 30-second skip forwards/back, scrubbing thumbnails. - when scrubbing a video its a little sluggish to resume playing - when sorting by date, folders dont get sorted, just pushed to the bottom of the list. - definitely more expensive that Air Video, but it might still be worth it.

Can you add the possibility [play/pause/resume] videos Witch headphone volume control ? Very useful Especially for videos witch subtitles..

Sharing is working more or less but whats the point if friends cant download files ?

Good concept, poor execution. The PC app, after letting it scan for 2 days then rebooting, was using 250MB and 48% CPU. On my iPhone I could not open any songs and it took ages to even display the available songs (yes, after letting it scan for 2 days and competing the index)

I love the concept of this app... using my own desktop to create and host my own cloud and when its working it is great. But the server app on my desktop seems to often stop working for no apparent reason and then I cant access those drives from my ipad. I have to reboot to get it working again

Younity.....What a great app! I have been searching for something this good since the days Simply Media and AudioGalaxy ceased operations...... I have almost a Terrabyte of music on my computer and Younity allows me to access all of it over my iPhone and iPad. Outstanding! Thank you Unity!!!!

iOS6 requirement eliminates iPad 1 from the loop. Disappointing for the many millions of users of original iPad. Would be really nice if Younity could find a way to get the orig iPad into the loop. (Polkast app at least works for iOS5.)

Ive just gotten this app and it uses tons of data every time I even open it. I dont know why, I havent even installed it on my computer yet. How does this app use so much data when its not even syncing anything?

Ive got it set to only work over wi-fi so it doesnt cost me any data. It really works great, shares and streams all of my selected folders quickly and easily. Great app!

Great app. I never use a cloud solution anymore...

I use this primarily as a music player (accessing my music library even when at work without using up phone memory). It does a good job. There are a few tweaks needed, but the developers seem on the ball and are improving this app all the time.

Very easy to use. I love that I can share movies, photos, and files with friends and family. I use it everyday!!
